Back in January, Clay and I decided to embark on a challenge for this upcoming year - we decided that we we're going to try our best to go camping at a different campsite once a month! It's funny, because before we started dating, we actually had been on two camping trips together to Yosemite and Steep Ravine (in Mount Tamalpais State Park). But since we dated, we've only gotten to go on one single camping trip. And I had even gotten him a camping pot & pan set + some camping skewers for his birthday, too! So this year we hope to go much more often, which will require planning way ahead of time and booking all those different campsites very early in advance! It will also require collecting and accumulating more camping gear ;)
Our first camping trip in January took place at an old favorite of mine, Sunset State Beach, near Watsonville. It's a nostalgic place for me, because all throughout high school, I would go there every year on a summer beach trip with my youth group. We would go in the ocean, find sand dollars, skimboard/boogie board, play volleyball/football, build sand castles, barbecue, and just enjoy the sun with good company. I had also gotten a chance to camp there once before with a close group of friends, so I was super excited to show Clay. We were quite lucky to get to the beach just in time to see the sun setting beyond the ocean and it was a beautiful sight - the beach definitely still lives up to its name! I can't wait for more camping trips to explore old & new places with Clay, family, and friends this year! And I also hope to be taking more pictures to share here as well!
