Our second camping trip of the year took place over Valentine's Day weekend and consisted of a backpacking trip to Glen Camp located at Point Reyes National Seashore. This was my very first backpacking trip and it definitely was more challenging (but also more satisfying!) than the usual car camping. Clay and I had to pack minimally and efficiently to carry our sleeping bags, sleeping pads, tent/poles/rainfly, tarp, lantern, jet boil, water filter, clothes, toiletries, all our food, and nexus ;). After grabbing a quick brunch at the Pine Cone Diner in Point Reyes Station, we hit the road: 4.6 miles with everything on our backs! It was really nice hiking there because there was a busy little creek that ran along the trail, which helped to make the journey shady and cool. About halfway through the hike, there was the large Divide Meadow that provided a peaceful picnic spot for its travelers. The last mile was slightly more difficult for me, but with Clay's constant encouragement, we made it to our home for the night! Site #5 was pretty secluded with some lovely little woods behind it, which we deemed as our own backyard for the weekend. Resting together underneath the trees, eating hot shin ramen bowls for dinner, watching a recent psychological thriller (Gone Girl) in the middle of the woods in the middle of the night...I couldn't have asked for a better first backpacking trip with my Valentine!
Just capturing as I go.
